Meeting for neighborhood leaders Oct. 21
October 16th, 2008The Benson-Ames Alliance (B-AA) is going green, and it wants input from the people who live within its borders. The grassroots organization is hosting a meeting for alliance neighborhood leaders or their representatives Tuesday, Oct. 21. The event will begin at 7 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, 5020 Grand Ave.
The B-AA, formed in 2005 to help plan for and implement the revitalization of the Benson-Ames area, is striving to become a sustainable community that actively seeks a balance between its built and natural environments. “Sustainability means something different to everyone, and we’ve begun to define what that ‘something’ is for the alliance,” said Linda Tripp, chair of the B-AA Neighborhood Affairs Committee. “We want to encourage our neighborhoods to do the same by tapping into their interests and making them aware of resources that can help their residents and, in turn, the B-AA.”
The Oct. 21 agenda will include a discussion on forming a B-AA Green Committee, a scan of green programs/activities taking place within the alliance, an update on the B-AA’s Cole Creek Project and its accompanying incentive program under development, an update on the B-AA’s Maple Street Corridor Project in downtown Benson, and a discussion of establishing business associations in areas of the alliance not currently served by one.
