Stop it.
What can you do to help Cole Creek and other waterways like it? A lot, it turns out.
By stopping some common practices both inside and outside the places where you live and work, you can conserve water AND help prevent pollutants from making their way into your local water system.

Inside
- Stop letting the water run while you brush your teeth or shave. When you’re in the shower, turn the water off while you’re soaping or shampooing.
- Stop neglecting dripping faucets and running toilets. In addition to wasting water, it’s costing you money.
- Stop using the toilet as a waste basket – it leads to more flushing.
- Stop using running water to defrost frozen foods. Instead, place them in your refrigerator to thaw overnight.
Outside
- Stop trampling plants and other vegetation that grows along stream banks – that includes your pets as well!
- Stop overwatering your lawn. Consider using a soaker hose instead of a sprinkler.
- Stop making pet waste someone else’s problem. When walking your pet, pick up the waste and dispose of it properly. Flushing pet waste is the best disposal method.
- Stop washing your car in your driveway - use a commercial car wash instead.
